Premier League Preview 2 & 3 April 2011

premier league oddsPremier League Preview 2 & 3 April 2011

Following last weeks break due to international duties the Premier League returns on the 2nd & 3rd April 2011 kicking off with West Ham v Man Utd at 12:45 on Saturday.

Here is our pick of this weeks games:

Wigan v Tottenham

With Wigan languising at the foot of the table they will be keen to get another win continuing where they left off prior to the international fixtures where they won against Birmingham City.  They will face a Tottenham side who have drawn their last 3 fixtures in all competitions including their last Premier League game against relegation candidates West Ham.

With that in mind the best odds for the draws are 6/1 for a 1-1 draw or 9/1 for a 0-0 draw both with Skybet.  For a repeat of the previous result with these two side of a 1-0 Wigan win odds are currently as high as 9/1 with Coral.

The previous fixtures between these two sides are as follows:

Aug 28th 2010 – Tottenham Hotspur 0 – 1 Wigan Athletic
Feb 21st 2010 – Wigan Athletic 0 – 3 Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal v Blackburn

The evening kick off on Saturday sees Arsenal entertain Blackburn at the Emirates.  Both teams could only manage a 2-2 draw in their previous games in the Premier League.  Previous meetings between these two sides have thrown up some interesting results, including 2 4-0 wins for Arsenal, an 8 goal thriller back in 2009 and more recently a couple of 2-1 results.

A 2-0 Arsenal win is currently the favourite result on the correct score odds market at 6/1 with William Hill. A 2-1 result in favour of Arsenal is available as high as 17/2 at Skybet whilst the same result this time in Blackburn’s favour is as high as 50/1 with Boylesports.

Aug 28th 2010 – Blackburn Rovers 1 – 2 Arsenal
May 3rd 2010 – Blackburn Rovers 2 – 1 Arsenal
Oct 4th 2009 – Arsenal 6 – 2 Blackburn Rovers
Mar 14th 2009 – Arsenal 4 – 0 Blackburn Rovers
Sep 13th 2008 – Blackburn Rovers 0 – 4 Arsenal

Premier League 23-24 October 2010

premier league oddsPremier League Week 8 Preview

Were back again for a weekend of Premier League action that sees two of the current top four playing each other as Man City play host to Arsenal and a home game for the League leaders Chelsea against bottom 3 Wolves.

Here is our pick of this weeks games:

Man City v Arsenal

We start off this weeks preview with the top four battle between Man City and Arsenal, both teams keen to keep Chelsea in sight and challenge for the league this season.  Previous results between these two sides lend to a Man City win and a result that should contain goals.  Form wise Arsenal have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 15 away games in all competitions and have only won one of their last 8 Premier League away games.

Apr 24th 2010 Arsenal 0 – 0  Manchester City
Sep 12th 2009 Manchester City 4 – 2  Arsenal
Apr 4th 2009 Arsenal 2 – 0  Manchester City
Nov 22nd 2008 Manchester City 3 – 0  Arsenal

A repeat of last seasons result of 4-2 in the correct score odds market is as high as 100/1 with Paddy Power.  Other popular odds on the market include:

Chelsea v Wolves

Results and form are certainly against visitors to Chelsea in this match where Wolves currently lie in the bottom 3 failing to win any of their last 7 Premier League games.  Chelsea on the other hand have seen one of their best starts to a Premier League campaign scoring 21 goals in 8 games.

Feb 20th 2010 Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 – 2  Chelsea
Nov 21st 2009 Chelsea 4 – 0  Wolverhampton Wanderers
Mar 27th 2004 Chelsea 5 – 2  Wolverhampton Wanderers
Sep 20th 2003 Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 – 5  Chelsea

A 4-0 win to Chelsea is as low as 10/1 with Bluesq showing that goals are expected in this game.  Other popular choices in the betting market include:

Premier League Fixtures 23/10/10 – 24/10/10
Tottenham v Everton – 23 Oct 12:45
Birmingham v Blackpool – 23 Oct 15:00

Champions League 19-20 October 2010

Champions League Week 3 Preview

The Champions League is back again with the third game in the group fixures getting under way between Tuesday 19th October and Wednesday 20th October 2010.

Here is a look at this weeks games featuring the English sides and respective correct score odds:

Spartak Moscow v Chelsea

Chelsea have only played one Russian team in the past CSKA Moscow, in which both games Chelsea won without conceding a goal in the process so their is little history and stats to compare going into this game.  Spartak however go into the game with a run of form winning their last three games so will go into the game with renewed confidence.  Chelsea have only lost one of their last nine Champions League away games although they have failed to win consecutive away games in the Champions League since back in 2004.

Popular correct score odds for the game are as follows: (result, odds, bookmaker)

  • Draw 1-1, 6/1, 888Sport
  • Chelsea 1-0, 7/1, Unibet
  • Chelsea 2-1, 8/1, Paddy Power

Arsenal v Shakhtar Donetsk

These two sides last met in the 2000-2001 Champions League season where honours were split equally.  Arsenal came back from 0-2 down to win 3-2 in thier home game whilst Shakhtar managed a 3-0 win against the Gunners.

20/09/00 Arsenal 3 Shakhtar 2

07/11/00 Shakhtar 3 Arsenal 0

A look at present time shows that Arsenal have scored 19 goals in their last five Champions League home matches with Chamakh scoring in the last five in a row.  The statistics go further against Shakhtar who have only managed a draw and two losses against English sides away from home in recent years.

Popular correct score odds for the game are as follows: (result, odds, bookmaker)

Inter Milan v Tottenham

Inter Milan are likely to be Tottenham’s toughest opponents to date in the Champions League and this is reflected in the odds in the correct score market.  Many Spurs fans would be more than happy with a point from this game against a side that regularly performs well in Europe.

Rafa Benitez having recently departed from the Premier League will be very familiar with the team that Inter face going into the game and will be looking for a win for the home side as he will be aware of how well Tottenham play at home from recent past experience with Liverpool.

Popular correct score odds for the game are as follows: (result, odds, bookmaker)

Man Utd v Bursaspor

Man Utd never seem to be out of the news recently and this week is no exception with speculation that Rooney will not be renewing his contract with the club next summer.  Rooney’s relationship with Sir Alex has been under the spotlight in recent weeks and whether he plays against Bursaspor remains to be seen.

Man Utd are expected to win this game with ease and push themselves one step further to qualification past the group stages following a win and a draw so far in the competition.  Valencia, Man Utd’s previous opponents managed a 4-0 win against Bursaspor in Turkey, given Man Utd beat Valencia 1-0 away from home there should be goals in this game for Utd.

Popular correct score odds for the game are as follows: (result, odds, bookmaker)

Other correct score results for those looking for better value include:

  • Draw 0-0 , 21/1, Betfair
  • Man Utd 5-0, 21/1, Unibet
  • Bursaspor 1-0, 45/1, Betfair

Champions League Fixtures 19/10/10 – 20/10/10 (English Teams)

Tuesday 19th October 2010
Spartak Moscow v Chelsea, Group F, 17:30
Arsenal v Shakhtar Donetsk, Group H, 19:45

Wednesday 20th October 2010
Inter Milan v Tottenham, Group A, 19:45

Premier League Week 8 – 16/10/10

Premier League Week 8 Preview

The week’s break from the Premier League has been rather eventful including England only being able to manage a draw against Montenegro and Liverpool being saved at the last minute by New England Sports Ventures.

Here is our pick of this weeks games:

Aston Villa v Chelsea

Aston Villa will be keen to forget the last meeting between these two sides which resulted in a 7-1 thrashing by the current league leaders which occurred a little over 7 months ago.  Aston Villa will be looking to forgot about that result and would much prefer a repeat of the corresponding fixture last season which saw them beat Chelsea 2-1, a result which would give Chelsea the first defeat of the 2010-2011 season.  Chelsea will be without both Lampard and Drogba for the match whilst Villa are still without Agnbonlahor.

Mar 27th 2010 Chelsea 7 – 1 Aston Villa
Oct 17th 2009 Aston Villa 2 – 1 Chelsea

Ahead of the match a 1-1 draw is the favoured result with odds of 13/2 at  Skybet.   Other popular choices include.

  • Chelsea 1-0, 15/2, Unibet
  • Chelsea 2-1, 8/1, Paddy Power
  • Chelsea 2-0, 17/2, Betfair
  • Aston Villa 1-0, 13/1, Unibet

Everton v Liverpool

Both results between these Everton and Liverpool last season results in wins for Liverpool, however with the current off the pitch disruption Everton will consider themselves in with a chance of a win against their Mersyside rivals this season.

Feb 6th 2010 Liverpool 1 – 0 Everton
Nov 29th 2009 Everton 0 – 2 Liverpool

A 1-1 draw is again a popular choice in this game at odds of 6/1 with Blue Square.  An Everton 1-0 scoreline is available at odds of 7/1 with Victor Chandler slightly ahead of a 1-0 win for Liverpool which is available at 8/1 this time with Paddy Power.

Premier League Fixtures 16/10/10 – 18/10/10
Arsenal v Birmingham – 16 Oct 15:00
Bolton v Stoke – 16 Oct 15:00
Fulham v Tottenham – 16 Oct 15:00
Man Utd v West Brom – 16 Oct 15:00
Newcastle v Wigan – 16 Oct 15:00
Wolverhampton v West Ham – 16 Oct 15:00
Aston Villa v Chelsea – 16 Oct 17:30

England v Montenegro Odds

England v Montenegro Preview

England face Montenegro on Tuesday night in their third Group G game of the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.

The likely line-up for the game is as follows: Hart, G Johnson, Ferdinand, Terry, A Cole, A Johnson, Gerrard, Barry, Milner, Rooney, Crouch

Here is a look at the odds ahead of the game:

England v Montenegro

Currently Montenegro top the group with three wins out of three although England who sit below them in second place do have a game in hand.  Montenegro to date have won all three of thier games with a 1-0 result whilst England have managed a more convincing 3-1 win against Switzerland and 4-0 win against Bulgaria.

The most popular correct score on the betting markets is a 2-0 England win available at odds of 11/2 with Betfair.

A 1-0 Montenegro win like their previous three results is available at odds of 33/1 with Paddy Power for any Montenegro fans out their (surely no England fan would bet on this outcome).

Other popular choices in the correct score market for the game include: (Result, Best Odds, Bookmaker)

Anyone looking at the odds of a draw in this game can get 18/1 on a 0-0 result and 14/1 on a 1-1 result both with Bet365.

Aside from the correct score market Paddy Power have reported a lot of bets on Adam Johnson scoring first at odds of 7/1, given his current goalscoring form it may be worth having a wager on that particular outcome.

Premier League Week 7 – 02/10/10

Premier League Week 7 Preview & Odds

This weeks Premier League fixtures begin with Wolves paying a visit to Wigan in a bottom of the table clash with both teams keen to pick up some early points in the season.  Other highlights include a London derby between West Ham and Fulham plus the Chelsea v Arsenal game which ends proceedings at 4pm on Sunday.

Here is our pick of this weeks games:

Chelsea v Arsenal

With Chelsea wins both home and away last season and given thier current form Chelsea go into Saturday’s game clear favourites.  Didier Drogba has scored 12 goals in his last 10 games in all competitions against Arsenal, therefore if past results are anything to go by then expect goals in this game.

Looking further back in time things don’t look any better for Arsenal with them only being able to manage 2 wins in thier last 17 matches against thier local rivals.

Feb 7th 2010 Chelsea 2 – 0  Arsenal
Nov 29th 2009 Arsenal 0 - 3  Chelsea

The most favoured outcome in the correct score market is a 1-0 win to Chelsea available at odds of 7/1 with William Hill, whilst a 2-0 win to Chelsea a repeat of last seasons result between these two sides is available at odds of 8/1 at Betfair.  For any optimistic Arsenal fans looking for value a 1-0 win to the Gunners is available at odds of 18/1 in the correct score market again at Betfair

Liverpool v Blackpool

On paper Liverpool v Blackpool looks to game goals written all over it, but with both sides up and down start to the season this result is a tough one to call.  Liverpool have been blowing hot and cold since the start of the season which as a result leaves them sat in 16th position in the Premier League table and a place and point behind thier opposition.

As far as the markets go Liverpool are favourites to take the win today with 2-0 result available at 6/1 with market leaders William Hill or how about a upset in the game where a 2-0 win to Blackpool seeing odds as high as 66/1 with Paddy Power.

West Brom v Bolton

West Bromwich Albion fans have seen a promising start to the new Premier League season and last weeks unexpected win away to Arsenal will see West Brom go into this weekends fixture with even more confidence against a Bolton side who held Manchester United to a 2-2 draw in their previous game.

Mar 21st 2009 West Bromwich Albion 1 – 1  Bolton Wanderers
Aug 30th 2008 Bolton Wanderers  0 – 0  West Bromwich Albion

History between these two side back in the 08/09 season shows two draws and with both teams style of play a draw would not be a total surprise although West Brom will be looking for a win in this game based on current form.

A 1-1 result is currently the favoured scoreline on the correct score market with the bookmakers with odds as low as 13/2 with William Hill (best price).  Other odds worth looking at include a 2-1 win to West Brom at odds of 8/1 with Skybet and a 2-0 win to again to the home side at odds of 10/1 again with William Hill.

Premier League Fixtures 02/10/10 – 03/10/10
Wigan v Wolverhampton – 02 Oct 12:45
Birmingham v Everton – 02 Oct 15:00
Stoke v Blackburn – 02 Oct 15:00
Sunderland v Man Utd – 02 Oct 15:00
Tottenham v Aston Villa – 02 Oct 15:00
West Brom v Bolton – 02 Oct 15:00
West Ham v Fulham – 02 Oct 15:00
Man City v Newcastle – 03 Oct 13:30
Liverpool v Blackpool – 03 Oct 15:00
